About Our Bakery
Armando and Emilce Gelista met in 1978 at a Panaderia in Guatemala City. Where Emilce worked in the store front and Armando in the Bakery and pastry shop. In 1985 Armando emigrated to the United States in search of a better future for him and his family.
After working in several companies. In 1991 the idea of ​​a bakery was born. Where Armando and Emilce Gelista started making bread from a small apartment, they offered and distributed the bread from door to door and in companies. Seeing that the demand for bread was increasing, they decided it was time to start the business.
This was how Panaderia Guatemalteca"La Mejor" opened its doors on June 15, 1995 in Garland Tx. At that time, Armando, his wife and his uncle were the only ones working. Armando and “El Tio" made bread and Emilce made tamales and stuffed peppers. While his daughters, son and his sister worked in the store front in the afternoons and weekends.
The following years more members of the family joined as well as other employees who up to this day are still working. In 2003 they decided to open the second location in Farmers Branch TX but in 2009 they moved to the the City of Carrollton. Armando and Emilce take pride in their business thy have built but hope to open other bakeries in the future. Nowadays, they are still working together as a family, striving to offer you the best product and service every day.
Armando y Emilce Gelista se conocieron en 1978 en una Panadería en la ciudad de Guatemala. Emilce trabajaba en el despacho y Armando en la Panadería y pastelería. En 1985 Armando emigro a Estados Unidos en búsqueda de un mejor futuro para el y su familia.
Después de trabajar en varias compañías, en 1991 nació la idea de una panadería. Armando y Emilce Gelista empezaron a hacer pan desde un pequeño apartamento, ofrecían y repartían el pan de puerta en puerta y en compañías de trabajo . Viendo que la demanda del pan fue aumentando decidieron que era tiempo de formalizar el negocio.
Así fue como Panadería Guatemalteca “La Mejor” abrió sus puertas en Junio 15, 1995 en Garland Tx. En ese entonces solamente elaboraban el, su esposa y su Tío Medardo. Armando, y “El Tío” hacían el pan y Emilce hacia los tamales y chiles rellenos. Mientras que sus hijos y su hermana trabajaban en el despacho en las tardes y fines de semana.
Los siguientes años se unieron mas miembros de la familia así también como otros empleados que hasta en este día siguen trabajando. En el 2003 decidieron abrir la segunda localidad en Farmers Branch TX pero en 2009 se trasladaron a la Ciudad de Carrollton. Armando y Emilce se enorgullecen de su sueño ya realizado pero esperan abrir otras panaderías en el futuro. Hoy en día siguen trabajando siempre unidos en familia esforzándose para ofrecerles un buen producto y servicio cada día.
